I just couldn't resist to knit the cuff with beads while I'm crocheting a dress for Emma. It took me an hour to start to end this project.
I asked the designer, Laura Nelkin, about the beads. I'm member of Craftsy.com. I asked her about the regular beads from Walmart. She suggested me to buy Toho, the Japanese seed beads. It's the best quality beads than any regular beads. It made from Japan. (I'm hoping I'm right). Not from China. So I returned the beads to Walmart. My local Michael's store is carrying Toho Japanese seed beads. I was thrilled about it.
The Japanese seed beads has very smoothly on the inside and outside of bead. It's best for the yarn. I once worked with another project with the regular beads. It DOES different between from regular and Japanese beads. I slid the beads on the thread of yarn very smoothly than rough and hard to move the amount of regular beads. I kept played with it. I'm definitely buying Japanese seed beads only. The beads look so yummy!
I'm using Toho glass beads clear and dark green in size 8 and 6. The clasps from my stash box, it's good thing about stash, ahem.
The pattern is came from the designer named, Laura Nelkin. She's crazy abt the beads on knitting. She influenced on me about it. The yarn is cascade heritage yarn. It's fingering weight for this project. You really do want to knit in fingering weight or lace weight. Sport, DK, and worsted are too bulky for cuff. I pre strung the 60 beads on the working yarn. I placed the 4 size 6 dark green with dental floss. I'm just playing around if I like to use floss. I prefer to use a steel crochet for place a bead. But the floss is good for the traveling so you won't spill the beads that I once did spilled the beads on my bed, Derek was like groaning and said "not again!", ahem.
It's fun and quickly project to knit.
Psst, I went to Michael's to bought even more Toho beads. If you buy 3 or more, it'll be $2.56 from $2.99. Eh...
